Who this policy covers
This policy applies to savecompare.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), operated for US users. If you are visiting from the UK, our UK operations are governed by savecompare.co.uk/privacy.
What we collect
- Information you give us when you fill out a quote form, contact form, or newsletter signup: name, email, ZIP code, age band, vehicle/property details, coverage preferences, and similar fields required to return accurate quotes.
- Automatically collected when you visit: IP address, device type, browser, referring URL, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, and cookie-based identifiers (see our Cookie Policy).
- Advertising identifiers (e.g. Google advertising ID) if your browser shares them.
Why we collect it
- To return quotes or product matches (business purpose).
- To improve the Site (analytics).
- To show relevant advertising, including through Google AdSense.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Who we share it with
When you submit a quote form, we share the information necessary to return quotes with the partner network for that product (e.g. MediaAlpha, The Zebra, QuinStreet, LendingTree, Credible, HealthSherpa). Those partners are contractually required to use your information only to return quotes and to comply with applicable consumer-finance and privacy laws.
We also use:
- Google AdSense for advertising (may set advertising cookies).
- Google Analytics / similar for traffic measurement.
- Cloudflare for delivery and bot protection.
- Hosting providers within the United States.
We do not sell personal information for cash consideration. Sharing with partner networks to return quotes is a disclosed business purpose.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and similar laws in Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon, Montana and other states, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise this right, email [email protected] with "Do Not Sell or Share" in the subject line and the email address you'd like the request applied to. We will process the request within 15 business days, and confirm by reply. You can also enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser — we honor GPC as an opt-out signal automatically.
Your other rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you.
- Access a copy of that information.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information (subject to retention obligations).
- Opt out of targeted advertising.
- Limit use of sensitive personal information.
- Appeal a denial of a rights request.
Submit any of these via [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Children's privacy
SaveCompare is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we will delete it.
Retention
We keep contact-form and quote-form submissions for 24 months unless a longer period is required by law. Analytics and cookie-based identifiers are retained per the provider's default window (typically 14–26 months for Google Analytics).
Security
We use HTTPS for all Site traffic, hashed or encrypted storage for sensitive fields, and least-privilege access controls. No system is 100% secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, email [email protected] immediately.
Changes to this policy
We will post material changes to this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
